FAQ’s
do you offer virtual therapy?
If scheduling, commuting, or other factors make it difficult to attend therapy sessions in person, teletherapy is an option. If you’re unsure whether in-person or virtual therapy is right for you, I am happy to discuss pros and cons during our phone consultation!
How much do therapy sessions cost?
Individual 50-minute counseling sessions cost $190. Couples counseling and family therapy sessions are billed at a rate of $230-$290 based on session length. I am able to offer a limited number of slots for sliding scale clients based on financial need. Payments can be made with a credit card, cash, or check.
I’m interested in joining a dbt group. what are your offerings?
I offer introductory-level DBT Skills Groups for adults on a cyclical basis. I also offer a DBT Skills Integration Process Group for clients with previous DBT experience who are looking for a more connective, relational therapeutic group in which to practice applying skills training. Please reach out to me via email or my contact form for more information about current and upcoming group offerings.
I’m looking for individual Dbt therapy. how does that work?
For clients who are looking for DBT skills training and integration but who are not ready for/not interested in joining a group, I also offer DBT in individual therapy sessions.
Do You accept health insurance?
I do not accept health insurance at this time. I am able to provide a monthly superbill for “out-of-network” clinical services, which may be covered in part or in full by your health insurance plan. Superbills can be provided for both individual and group therapy services.
Consider calling your health care provider and asking the following questions to clarify potential coverage:
Do I have "out-of-network" mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
What is my "co-insurance"?
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
What is the coverage amount per session?
Is approval required from my primary care doctor?
Please keep in mind that in instances where out-of-network benefits are available, you will still be responsible for payment up front for each session. Your insurance company will then reimburse your expenses after processing the required documentation.
why pay out of pocket?
Paying out of pocket may still be the preferred option for clients with access to out-of-network health insurance benefits. Insurance companies mandate a diagnosis, oversee your health records, and may seek access to your information while in therapy. You may also find that your out-of-network benefits cover only a small number of therapy sessions per year, regardless of your unique needs and circumstances.
